History has its eyes on me….
Yes, that’s right. I, Leah, am a Hamilton fan. And yes, that’s also right, I am once again listening to the soundtrack while writing this blog post. And now, let me convince you to listen to Hamilton and… not throw away your shot…. and hop on the bandwagon! (Why yes, yes I did just make a reference, thank you for noticing! And yes, this post will be laden with more. ;))
Before I get started on this oh-so-awesome tag, I would like to tell you why I love this wonderful musical so much/how it has influenced my life! I got into Hamilton around a month ago because my friend Sarah (Sarah, if you’re reading this, I thank you again for giving me this new obsession), kind of forced me to. NO REGRETS! (Not even one letter!) It’s a hip-hop type rendition of our nation’s past, centered around Alexander Hamilton. Which, yeah, sounds kinda lame, but I SWEAR, it’s not. It’s awesome. I also love this musical because Lin-Manuel Miranda. He is a beautiful cinnamon roll who is too precious for this world.
I’ve always been interested in history, but school, of course, has kind of made me uninterested. History classes strip the emotion/intrigue away, and leave you with boring facts and a bad taste in your mouth. Thanks to Hamilton, I have reignited my interest in history, and I’m currently working on separating ‘School History’ from Real History in my mind. (Because, yes, there’s a difference!!) So yeah, I highly recommend checking out Hamilton if you haven’t already!
THE ROOM WHERE IT HAPPENS: Book world you would put yourself in.
I’m gonna be totally unoriginal and say HARRY POTTER!! I mean, who doesn’t want to go to a totally awesome magic school, hang out with friends in the common room, drink Butterbeer in Hogsmeade on weekends… *sigh*
THE SCHUYLER SISTERS: Underrated Female Character
I’m going to have to go with Cath from Fangirl. I feel like because she’s in a contemporary, she’s not really acknowledged for her awesomeness. But I relate to her so freaking much, so seeing where she is and what she does, what with having social anxiety and yet still putting herself out there, and just braving the craziness of humanity… I just have so much respect for her as a character! I mean, she really… works it. *smirk*
MY SHOT: A character that goes after what they want and doesn’t let anything stop them
Okay, again, I highly doubt anyone is going to be surprised by this answer, but I have to go with Celaena Sardothien of Throne of Glass. I can’t say much, because I definitely do not want to spoil anyone, but this girl just kicks some a** and doesn’t let anyone or anything get in her way. She’s brave and stands up for what she believes in without thought as to how this could affect her. She doesn’t *ahem* throw away her shot.
STAY ALIVE: A character you wish was still alive
Well I don’t want to spoil anyone, so I’m just going to say pretty much every character who died in Harry Potter, because, well… An awful lot of people died in there. I’m not crying, you’re crying. Shut up.
(Why did I think that ^ was a good idea. Now we’re both crying.)
BURN: The most heartbreaking end to a relationship you’ve ever read
(Okay this is sorta Throne of Glass spoilers but not really?? I mean they talk about it pretty early on in Throne of Glass…. And it’s in the prequel… IDK) But Sam and Celaena. Very heartbreaking. Too much heartbreak, okay? OKAY?! I cried so freaking much. SO MANY TEARS. And sure, it might not be the kind of breakup the question/song was talking about, but…. The end to that relationship made my eyes burn….
YOU’LL BE BACK: Sassiest Villain
Can I cheat on this one? Because there’s one name that comes to mind for this one, and it’s not a character from a book. I mean…
Come on. Loki is bae. Loki is the villain that every fangirl can’t help but love, because man, sass levels through the roof! (Can you tell that I just rewatched Thor and Thor: The Dark World?)
NON-STOP: A series you marathoned
Ummm… I think the last series I marathoned was Throne of Glass… I marathoned all of the published books and I couldn’t stop… One might say I was Non-Stop. (I should stop making these references but I don’t want to.)
SATISFIED: Favorite book with multiple POVs
I’m going to go with the Throne of Glass series! It’s my second favorite series ever (behind Harry Potter of course) and the way Sarah J. Maas weaves in the multiple POVs so flawlessly… Man it gives me chills. Flawless!
WHO LIVES, WHO DIES, WHO TELLS YOUR STORY: A book/series you feel like will be remembered throughout history
I am, once again, going to go with Harry Potter. This story of an orphaned little boy, the Chosen One, has had such an enormous influence on people for the past couple decades or so, and I honestly can’t imagine how it wouldn’t be remembered through history. The way it tells such an impacting story in a way that people of all ages can enjoy…. It truly is a gem!
Well that’s all for now everyone, thank you for sticking around during my very long post… This was ridiculously fun to do! xD If you are a Hamilton fan/listener, then I tag YOU!
Are you a Hamilton fan? If so, what’re your favorite song(s)?
