4 Ways to Gain Loyal Blog Followers

 

Do you ever come across an Instagram account that has thousands of followers but only gets a few hundred likes per post and barely any comments? I know I do. That’s what happens in the case of blogging too. Remember, there’s a difference between raising your follower NUMBER and gaining real, LOYAL followers who love your content and enjoy reading your posts. Most of the times, those are two completely different things. Some people are so focused on gaining followers that they often forget that they should be aiming to gain loyal ones. The ones who really care about their blog and that’s why follow it.

Just persuading someone to click that “follow” button does NOT make them a follower. I’ve often seen people say, “I follow back!” or “Follow me and I’ll follow you.” This is what leads to a blogger gaining followers, but not ones who would read their posts and comment on them. This won’t help you gain more page views or unique visitors every month. This is just people trying to bribe others into following them so that they can raise their followers number and display it to the world. But bribing someone like this does NOT mean that they would return to your blog regularly and interact with you.

You might be wondering, “So what can I do to make my blog even better for people to follow it?” Don’t worry, today I’m here to talk about some ways you can gain loyal followers, the ones who will read your posts and come back for more!  

1. Post quality content: This is one of the most important things for a blogger. Great content. If people visit your blog and don’t like what they see, they’ll most likely not visit again. Your blog is full of book reviews and memes? Post some discussions/tips once in a while! Try to make your posts interesting, engaging and helpful for others. Then people would definitely be attracted your blog, follow it, and THERE! You just gained a loyal follower. 🙂 After all, who doesn’t like to visit a blog that has great discussions, blogging tips, and more?  Remember: It’s better to put more time into fewer posts than less time into more posts.
2. Interact with other bloggers: Interacting, whether on social media or other blogs, is really important too. You can’t just keep yourself in a shell in the blogosphere. Open up and interact with fellow book lovers! Trust me, they’re some of the nicest people out there, and would definitely love to fangirl over books with you! This would not only gain you a follower/reader that enjoys your content, but you’ll also make a new online friend!
3. Comment back:  Book blogging is all about sharing your thoughts on books and interacting with others! We all enjoy getting comments on our posts, of course, but what’s important is that when someone comments on your blog, you make sure to check out theirs and comment back too! After all, they took their time to come visit your blog, so you should try to do the same in return. 🙂
4. Guest posting on other blogs:  While creating awesome content on your own blog certainly attracts people, posting great content on someone else’s blog will expose you to a whole new audience. Those readers would go and visit your blog if they liked your post and follow you there!

Those are a few ways you can gain a loyal following. Personally, I’d rather have a following of people who listen to what I have to say, than just increase that follower number. I know it often gets difficult to focus on doing that since publishers look for a large following, but we should be able to manage between the two.
