March Wrap Up

March was such an amazing reading month for me! I ended up reading 9 books, and most of them, if not all, were 5 star reads. I’m so excited to share them with you all today. 🙂

I’ve been obsessed with reading e-books lately. Why, you might ask? Well, there’s not a particular reason behind it. It might be because I can stay up late at night reading in bed without having to switch on any lights, or it might even be because it was a way for me to start another book right after finishing one, I can’t say; but surprisingly, ALL the books I read this month were on my kindle. I’m planning to discuss this topic on the blog soon, so stay tuned for that.

Review: Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell [Wherein I Share My Feels]

Title: Fangirl

Author: Rainbow Rowell

Published: September 10th, 2013 by St. Martin’s Press

Genre: YA Contemporary

Rating: 5/5 stars

Cath is a Simon Snow fan. Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan…

But for Cath, being a fan is her life—and she’s really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series when they were just kids; it’s what got them through their mother leaving.

Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fan fiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere.

Cath’s sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can’t let go. She doesn’t want to.

Now that they’re going to college, Wren has told Cath she doesn’t want to be roommates. Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone. She’s got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend, a fiction-writing professor who thinks fan fiction is the end of the civilized world, a handsome classmate who only wants to talk about words… And she can’t stop worrying about her dad, who’s loving and fragile and has never really been alone.

For Cath, the question is: Can she do this?

Can she make it without Wren holding her hand? Is she ready to start living her own life? Writing her own stories?

And does she even want to move on if it means leaving Simon Snow behind?

Fangirl revolves around a teenage girl, Cath, who is starting college at the University of Nebraska. She’s introvert and socially awkward, and would much rather prefer to stay in her dorm room writing fan-fiction than get drunk at parties. She has always depended on her twin sister, Wren, for her social life. But Wren wants to have a great college experience—which includes socializing and going to parties—and has refused to room with Cath. So Cath gets stuck with Reagan, a grumpy character slightly older than her. Cath has a hard time staying with her in the beginning, but things do get better later on.

2016 ARC April: Sign Up

I came across a few blogs who are going to do this challenge hosted by Read.Sleep.Repeat, so, considering the number of ARCs I’ve yet to read and review, I decided to join it too! Not only is this a great way for us to tackle the massive pile of ARCs, we can also win some fun swag/gift cards! All you have to do is make a post about joining the challenge and then add the link to Read.Sleep.Repeat‘s list.

If you don’t already know, an ARC stands for Advanced Readers Copy. They are copies of books printed out before a book’s release date and sent out to bloggers and other people in the industry by authors or publishers to read and promote.  Continue reading

The Hamilton Book Tag (AKA My Favorite Things Combined)

Hamilton Book Tag

music-note-transparent-background-003371-glossy-black-icon-media-music-eighth-notesHistory has its eyes on me…. music-note-transparent-background-003371-glossy-black-icon-media-music-eighth-notes

Yes, that’s right. I, Leah, am a Hamilton fan. And yes, that’s also right, I am once again listening to the soundtrack while writing this blog post. And now, let me convince you to listen to Hamilton and… not throw away your shot…. and hop on the bandwagon! (Why yes, yes I did just make a reference, thank you for noticing! And yes, this post will be laden with more. ;))

Before I get started on this oh-so-awesome tag, I would like to tell you why I love this wonderful musical so much/how it has influenced my life! I got into Hamilton around a month ago because my friend Sarah (Sarah, if you’re reading this, I thank you again for giving me this new obsession), kind of forced me to. NO REGRETS! (Not even one letter!) It’s a hip-hop type rendition of our nation’s past, centered around Alexander Hamilton. Which, yeah, sounds kinda lame, but I SWEAR, it’s not. It’s awesome. I also love this musical because Lin-Manuel Miranda. He is a beautiful cinnamon roll who is too precious for this world.

I’ve always been interested in history, but school, of course, has kind of made me uninterested. History classes strip the emotion/intrigue away, and leave you with boring facts and a bad taste in your mouth. Thanks to Hamilton, I have reignited my interest in history, and I’m currently working on separating ‘School History’ from Real History in my mind. (Because, yes, there’s a difference!!) So yeah, I highly recommend checking out Hamilton if you haven’t already!  Continue reading

My Favorite Bookstagramers!

If I said bookstagram hasn’t changed my life, I’d be lying. I created my account more than a year ago, and it has by far been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It has allowed me to open up to so many amazing things: blogging, internet friends, reading more… the list is endless. I recently hit 11k on there, which was an incredible thing to wake up to, and to show my appreciation, I’ve decided to share some of my favorite bookstagramers and share the love. ❤

If you didn’t already know, bookstagram means a book-instagram. So basically, a bookstagramer is a person who posts pictures of books and talks about them on his/her account!

In no particular order, here are some accounts you should definitely follow:

I’m sure most of you already follow Tracey and know how amazing her pictures are. They are always such an inspiration for me, and I also love her taste in books. Adore her account to pieces. ❤  Continue reading

Spring’s Fevered Releases… (And a brief introduction!)

Hey guys! I haven’t posted on our WordPress blog, so I thought I’d do a brief intro, just to say hi!
I’m Leah, one of the three bloggers on this site! I also would like to apologize for my inactiveness… I’ve been ridiculously busy lately, and having a bit of bloggers-block! (Is that even a thing?? It should be a thing. I have now proclaimed this a thing, if it’s not already a thing. Bam.)

If you’d like to chill with me, you can find me over at my Instagram (@leavingthroughthepages) or my GoodReads page!

Anyways, today I’m here to bring you my most anticipated spring releases!

Musical Mondays: Something Big by Shawn Mendes

(I’m SO sorry I haven’t been active this past month. It’s not that I was busy and didn’t have time to post anything, I was in a huge blogging slump.  Thanks to everyone for sticking around with me through all this! But I’m so glad to be finally back now 🙂 Missed y’all!  PS: I did end up reading a lot of great books during my hiatus, so stay tuned for the wrap up.)

Besides reading, I absolutely LOVE listening to music in my free time, so when I saw My Tiny Obsessions participate in this weekly meme, I obviously had to join her!

I’m so freakin’ OBSESSED with Shawn Mendes at the moment!! ❤ ❤ Ahh his songs are life! Some of my absolute favorites are: Stitches, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Something Big, and Strings, but if I had to choose only one (which is the hardest decision ever, to be honest), it would be Something Big. ❤

Oh, whoa, oh oh oh oh whoa oh oh oh oh oh whoa oh oh oh oh

Play the lotto you might win it.
It’s like 25 to life so you bust out of prison.

Something’s in the air, something’s in the air

It’s like that feeling when you’re just about to kill it,
Take your last shot you know you’re gonna hit it.

Something’s in the air, something’s in the air

Whoa oh oh oh oh

Something big I feel it happening
Out of my control
Pushing, pulling, and it’s grabbing me,
Feel it in my bones like

Whoa oh oh oh oh whoa oh oh oh oh oh oh whoa oh oh oh oh
Something big I feel it happening
Oh whoa oh oh oh whoa oh oh oh oh oh oh whoa oh oh oh oh oh
Something big

It’s like that feeling when you’re ’bout to win the medal,
And you worked so hard that you knew you wouldn’t settle,
Hands are in the air, hands are in the air.

When they hear you when you thought they wouldn’t listen,
It’s like an anthem that the whole world’s singing,

Hands are in the air, hands are in the air.

Whoa oh oh oh oh

Something big I feel it happening
Out of my control,
Pushing, pulling, and it’s grabbing me,
Feel it in my bones like,

Oh whoa oh oh oh whoa oh oh oh oh oh oh whoa. Oh oh oh oh
Something big I feel it happening
Oh whoa oh oh oh whoa oh oh oh oh oh oh whoa. Oh oh oh oh
Something big

Yeah, yeah

If we stomp our feet,
The ground will shake
If we clap our hands,
The walls will break
Yell so loud won’t forget our names
‘Cause something big is happening

Take this spark
And start a fire
Raise this up
We’re feeling high
They can’t tell us anything
‘Cause something big is happening

Something big I feel it happening
Out of my control
Pushing, pulling, and it’s grabbing me,
Feel it in my bones like

Oh oh oh oh whoa oh oh oh oh oh oh Oh oh oh oh whoa oh oh oh oh oh oh
Something big is happening whoa
Oh oh oh oh whoa oh oh oh oh oh oh Oh oh oh oh whoa oh oh oh oh oh oh
Something big I feel it happening oh

What’s YOUR favorite song(s) at the moment?? Are you obsessed with Shawn Mendes as much as I am?!

Blog Tour | Elementals: The Prophecy of Shadows

Title: Elementals: The Prophecy of Shadows

Author: Michelle Madow

Genre: YA Fantasy/Paranormal

Publisher: Dreamscape Publishing

Publication Date: January 26th 2016

Rating: 4/5 stars

When Nicole Cassidy moves from sunny Georgia to gloomy New England, the last thing she expects is to learn that her homeroom is a cover for a secret coven of witches. Even more surprisingly … she’s apparently a witch herself. Despite doubts about her newfound abilities, Nicole is welcomed into this ancient circle of witches and is bedazzled by their powers–and, to her dismay, by Blake–the school’s notorious bad-boy.

Girls who get close to Blake wind up hurt. His girlfriend Danielle will do anything to keep them away, even if she must resort to using dark magic. But the chemistry between Blake and Nicole is undeniable, and despite wanting to protect Nicole from Danielle’s wrath, he finds it impossible to keep his distance.

When the Olympian Comet shoots through the sky for the first time in three thousand years, Nicole, Blake, Danielle, and two others in their homeroom are gifted with mysterious powers over the elements. But the comet has another effect–it opens the portal to the prison world that has contained the Titans for centuries. After an ancient monster escapes and attacks Nicole and Blake, it’s up to them and the others to follow the clues from a cryptic prophecy so that they can save their town … and possibly the world.

“My world had gone from normal to magical in only a few days. Everything I’d once believed to be true had been turned upside down, and even though it was crazy and possibly dangerous, I loved every second of it.”

Thank you to Michelle Madow for providing me an ARC of this book. This doesn’t effect my opinions about it in any way.

January Wrap Up + February TBR

Hey guys! It’s time for the first wrap up of 2016! January passed by so fast. So many good (and bad) things happened, but at the end, I’m glad that it’s over. Here’s a brief wrap up on how my month went by:

It began in an incredible way—I woke up on the New Year’s Day finding out that I became a rep for the wonderful Evie Seo. That’s probably one of the best things that happened last month. I was immensely flattered to have given such an amazing opportunity! 🙂 Then, I moved this blog from Blogger to WordPress—I honestly don’t regret my decision at all. It’s a lot easier to communicate with fellow book bloggers on here, and I also love the variety of themes WordPress provides. But then my midterms started and last week was insanely stressful for me. Sadly, I couldn’t even read much because of that as I was way too busy preparing for the exams. I’m so glad most of them are over; hopefully I’ll be able to read a lot more in February!  Continue reading
